Valor is defined as: strength of mind or spirit that enables a person to encounter danger with firmness : personal bravery.
Enacted on January 1, 2003 California’s Medal of Valor Award is recognized as the highest state award for valor by a Public Safety Officer in California. The 2018 Medal of Valor nominations are currently being accepted by the California Department of Justice. All nominations must be submitted to the DOJ and postmarked by April 30, 2018. Brave Public Safety Officers protect and serve our communities in California everyday. On certain occasions, there are extraordinary circumstances that provide us an opportunity to recognize those that go above and beyond the call of duty.
