Capitol Beat – Licensing, Sheriff Eligibility and a $100 Billion Budget
The bill seeking to eliminate the legal immunities and create a licensing program for peace officers in California, SB 2 by Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena), moved out of the Senate Judiciary Committee with a commitment from the author and the Senate leader to continue working on the Bane Act language. PORAC and other law enforcement leaders have tried to offer amendments that would support a statewide licensing program to Senator Bradford and his sponsors. However, not a single proposed change has been accepted by the author or supporters of SB 2. Read More
