Federal Legislation – PORAC Storms the Hill
Beginning with a proclamation by President John F. Kennedy in 1962 designating May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day, National Police Week has blossomed into a nearly monthlong commemoration during which tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world meet in Washington, D.C., to honor those officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. 2018 California Memorial Ceremony
On May 6 and 7, law enforcement members, supporters and surviving families from throughout the state gathered at the Capitol in Sacramento for the 42nd annual California Peace Officers’ Memorial Ceremony, honoring the six officers killed in the line of duty in 2017 and remembering all those who have given their lives in the service of public safety.
