Capitol Beat – Looking Ahead
On December 7 at 12:00 p.m., the Legislature will return for one day to swear in new members and begin the 2021–22 legislative ses-sion. In past years, December was more about celebrating newly elected legislators and less about introducing bills before the holiday recess. However, with the shortened 2020 legislative session and the large amount of police reform bills that will be reintroduced, we anticipate hitting the ground running. Read More
Federal Legislation – A Transition Looms
After an unprecedented and seemingly interminable buildup, the November 3 general election has come and gone. Some semblance of a resolution has been reached as most major media networks (NBC, AP, Fox, CNN) have called the presidential election in favor of Demo-cratic nominee and former Vice President Joe Biden. While it should be noted that not all votes have been counted and that most states have not certified results, Biden’s margins and projected victories in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Wisconsin and Michigan are poised to push him over the top.
