In 1980, PORAC formed a separate nonprofit public benefit corporation for educational and training purposes. This foundation is the Peace Officers Relief and Education Foundation (POREF). POREF is made up of three different funds; Memorial Fund, Scholarship Fund and Relief Fund.
The Scholarship Fund provides educational opportunities for deserving applicants and helps encourage young people to consider law enforcement as an honorable career worth pursuing.
The Catastrophic Relief Fund provides financial support for our members and their families facing a crisis, such as a life-threatening illness, wildfire or other natural disasters.
The Memorial Fund provides financial support to help families through the life-altering changes that occur when they lose a loved one in the line of duty.
Now, everyone can see our strategy, metrics and achievements. Check out our updated nonprofit profile on Candid by clicking here!
