Sarah Creighton retired from the San Diego Police Department in February 2017 where she held the position of Assistant Chief. As a captain, she was selected to create the Police Department’s first wellness unit. The San Diego Police Department’s Wellness Unit continues to serve as a model for other agencies and a recipient of the 2016 Destination Zero Award, a national award for innovative officer wellness initiatives.
Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies, with an emphasis in education, and a master’s degree in human behavior. She is currently Director of Law Enforcement Services for the Institutes of Health, a biopsychosocial transdisciplinary care provider serving first responders by providing treatment for PTSD, TBI, chronic pain, substance use, and other conditions common to first responders.
Sarah will be presenting on designing your next chapter after retirement. She presented at the 2024 Symposium with rave reviews. You’ll want to attend this session and learn how to prepare yourself for a life and career outside the uniform.
Mark Sikorski has been with UBS for 29 years. He is a Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager. Mark manages the money of 55 police unions and hundreds of first responders.
Gino Stumpo has been with UBS for 25 years. He is a Managing Director, Portfolio Manager, Certified Financial Planner, and Chartered Retirement Counselor
Mark and Gino will speak on how your Association can be smart with its money by learning to invest for the future. Dr. Tomer Anbar is the founder and CEO of the Institutes of Health, specializing in research and the advanced treatment of such epidemics as chronic pain, complex PTSI, brain injuries, and related conditions. In 2002 he launched the Mind/Body Health Initiative to treat the chronic pain epidemic more effectively in the workers’ compensation system, and in 2008 founded the Interdisciplinary Functional Restoration Program at Scripps Health.
Dr. Anbar will be speaking on worker’s compensation and how to advocate for best-practice care and claim management. You’ll want to find out why maneuvering through the worker’s compensation system for law enforcement is riddled with denials, delays, and adversarial conditions that create mistrust of leadership, so much so, that officers seek legal help. This is a don’t-miss session!
Brandi Harper is a managing partner of HARPER & MCCOY, APC, and a founding partner of the law firm. Brandi manages the firm’s Civil Litigation and Family Law Divisions. She is a PORAC Legal Defense Fund (LDF) panel attorney and a California Correctional Supervisors’ Organization (CCSO) panel attorney. Brandi handles all matters of employment defense. She is on Harper & McCoy’s Critical Incident Response Team. Brandi is an avid presenter and enjoys speaking on training topics for associations on civil litigation updates and general counsel matters.
