The Community College Police Officer performs patrol duties on foot, bicycle or by motorcycle or vehicle, and enforces laws, rules and regulations to protect college personnel against accident or bodily harm, and college property and facilities against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.

The Community College Police Captain oversees the daily activities of Campus Police Personnel to ensure essential police department functions are carried out, manages the Emergency Preparedness program and related functions, and performs high-level administrative work, acting as the first deputy to the Chief of Police.
