A national search is underway to attract an exceptional law enforcement executive to head the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) Police Department. The salary range is up to $270,000 – $300,000, depending on experience and qualifications. BART also offers an exceptional benefits package.

Deputy Police Chief

Salary: $162,509 to $225.086.45/annually (Plus 10% Police Management Incentive)

Job Description:

San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) is currently seeking a Deputy Police Chief who will be responsible for managing and administering the activities of a bureau within the Police Department as well as assist the Chief of Police with overall operation of the Department. The job demands a creative individual who has the ability to inspire change, and the courage to support officers in performing the challenging job of policing, while demanding accountability at all levels.

BART Police Department

POLICE OFFICER -
(Entry and Lateral)

$180,121 (Includes Premium Incentives*)
$118,000 (Base level for Laterals without any added incentives)
$99,866 (Base level for Entry/Academy Grad after FTO without any added incentives)
$15k hiring bonus (5k upon hiring, 10k upon FTO completion)

The mission of the BART Police Department is to ensure a safe environment within our transit system, reduce crime through a highly visible police presence, and proactive enforcement of the law, and to promote public confidence by working in partnership with our stakeholders and the communities we serve.

Premium incentives include:

  • POST Senior Officer Advanced Certificate
  • Shift differential (7% swings, 9.5% graves)
  • Educational incentive (3% AA, 7% BA/BS)
  • Longevity Pay (at 10, 14, and 20 years of service)
  • 3/12, 4/12 hybrid schedule. Most officers work either a 4/10 or 3/12, 4/12 hybrid schedule.
