As you all probably know, PORAC has multiple social media handles covering Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. It’s a terrific way for us to keep in touch with the latest news, providing updates to our members and even communicating with them on a daily basis. The importance of this should not be overlooked, as it allows us to be transparent about what our organization is currently tackling and the latest legislative news regarding what we are advocating for or against.
We have received numerous Fund a Hero campaigns that we’ve spread the word about on our social media platforms, but unfortunately, they have often been stuck there. This, in part, is due to associations not having at least a couple of platforms of their own to spread the word and raise awareness about these campaigns.
Setting up a social media account for your association is very simple and will be ready to go live in just a few minutes. Doing so allows your association to grow and provide word-of-mouth marketing throughout your county and even the entire state.
If you have questions about setting up a social media account for your association, feel free to contact PORAC Communications and Media Coordinator Cutter Hicks at cutter@porac.org, or PORAC Digital Content and Video Producer Marissa Wolford at mwolford@porac.org.
Need Website Help?
Have you ever looked at your association’s website and thought that it needs to be cleaned up? Does your association even have a website? 911MEDIA, who’s put together PORAC’s site, can help you create and lay out your own. As with social media, having a website can allow members to check in on the latest events and news without having to constantly provide email or phone call updates.
Combining the two is even better! You can post updates on your social media platform and direct followers to your website for more information! Contact 911MEDIA to get started by calling (877) DIAL-911 (342-5911) or visiting 911MEDIA.com.

Check Your Inbox for PORAC Institute Updates!
We are going to have a calendar filled with PORAC Institute courses through the end of the year — so much so that we will need to send out bimonthly reminders just to stay on top of it all! We are looking to have these bimonthly e-blasts sent out on the second and fourth Friday of every month.
The PORAC Institute offers courses that cover a variety of topics, including Internal Affairs, Basic and Advanced Collective Bargaining, Association Leadership, Peer Support, Traumas of Law Enforcement and more! These low-cost, top-notch educational opportunities offered through the PORAC Institute enable our members to be more effective within their own organizations while also receiving POST and STC credits.
