PORAC hosted yet another successful Symposium, bringing together 240 members to the Portola Plaza Hotel and Spa in Monterey from May 31 to June 1 to network with one another while learning from experts from varying fields on critical issues affecting the law enforcement profession throughout California and across the country. Presentation topics included active shooter response, officer mental health and wellness, defensive tactics, peer mentoring, workers’ compensation, stress management and much more. In addition, members heard from keynote speaker retired Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department Officer William J. Jimeno, who provided a riveting presentation on how he survived being buried alive under the rubble of the south tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11.
Thank you to everyone who attended and took advantage of the many invaluable training opportunities offered at this event. We hope to see you again next year!
