LDF Chair

Hello. I’m Barry Donelan, a longtime PORAC LDF trustee. I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself as the new LDF chair and advise our members regarding some changes that have been implemented at LDF.

As mentioned, last month, Fred Rowbotham stepped down as LDF chair after having served at the helm of PORAC LDF, guiding and growing the Plan for the last decade.  Thankfully, we are not losing Fred and his institutional knowledge. He will continue serving the LDF members as the Region IV trustee.

I will endeavor to fill Fred’s shoes as the new chair of PORAC LDF, and I look to continue the solid growth and guidance that the LDF members have come to anticipate from the chair.

My colleague, Region III Trustee Rudy Bojorquez, also took over as vice chair upon Todd Fraizer’s retirement. 

Also, new for 2024, PORAC President Brian Marvel has joined the LDF Board not only as president of PORAC, but also as the PORAC-appointed trustee. Brian brings even more experience to the Board, which now serves more than 146,000 participants across the country.  

The new seating arrangements on the Board augment the already great team serving you in the administrator’s office.  

Our long-serving and experienced legal administrator, Edward Marc Fishman, continues to quarterback the quality operation you have come to expect from PORAC LDF. 

The services the administrator’s office provides are impressive. In 2023 alone, PORAC LDF received a staggering 5,594 calls for service from participants seeking coverage. That number of requests was processed by a dedicated team of employees focused on being responsive, offering live customer service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (366 in 2024!), and providing LDF members with the highest quality legal representation for their cases.
