November 2022

Conference Is Almost Here!

November 1, 2022

PORAC is excited to host peace officers from across California and the nation at our 70th annual Conference of Members in sunny San Diego November 17–19! We look forward to what we know will be an engaging and informative event filled with interesting presentations and ample networking opportunities so that you can connect with fellow officers.

We’re excited for this year’s agenda (see PORAC.org/events/annual-conference/full-schedule-of-events), which features speakers from around the state who will share insights on a variety of topics. PORAC’s leadership, advocacy and communications teams, including President Brian Marvel and Vice President Damon Kurtz, will report on the successes we’ve had over the last year. You’ll hear from the Legal Defense Fund, Insurance and Benefits Trust, Specialized Police Associations Coalition, Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, and more.

Our team has prepared valuable training sessions, including a use-of-force training presented by Carlos D. Gonzalez of Blue Theory LLC and Professor Paul Taylor of University of Colorado Denver, and a crisis leadership training by Lieutenant Colonel Paul L. Humphrey. Saturday night we will host a cocktail hour and have entertainment from Thom Tran, a Los Angeles-based comedian and U.S. military veteran, during our installation dinner. This is an awesome lineup, and we’re looking forward to celebrating with you and all the hardworking folks who have spent the last year improving our profession and public safety throughout California.

To keep everyone informed, there will be an interactive app where attendees can find the go-to spots while at Conference. Here you can find the agenda, materials, speaker information, important announcements and a map. On Thursday night, there will be an exhibitor raffle game, and you can only sign up through the app. We will have more information on the launch before Conference.

As a friendly reminder, please follow PORAC on Facebook (@PORAC), Twitter and Instagram (@PORACalifornia) for the latest information and updates. We encourage you to engage with us by tagging us and including the #PORAC or #WeArePORAC hashtags in your posts. Feel free to reshare our content about Conference so we can see what you’re enjoying most about this year’s event. If you are planning on attending and have not already registered, please visit PORAC.org/events/annual-conference/registration to do so today. You can also check the website for regular updates and details about this year’s event.

We’re looking forward to seeing and reconnecting with all of you this month — both in person and on social media. If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to reach out.
