PORAC Hosts Candidates for Critical Public Safety Talks
As California prepares for next November’s pivotal 2026 governor election, several declared candidates made their way to the PORAC Board of Directors meeting held at headquarters on February 3–4. This unprecedented level of engagement underscores the significance of public safety in the upcoming election and highlights PORAC’s role as a leading advocate for law enforcement professionals across the state.
PORAC leaders had the opportunity to meet and hear from Vice President of Workforce, Strategy & Innovation at Calbright College Michael Younger; California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond; California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis; former Speaker of the California State Assembly Antonio Villaraigosa; Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco; California Senate President Pro Tem Emeritus Toni Atkins; and former California State Controller Betty Yee. Each candidate presented their unique vision for California’s future, offering a glimpse into their potential approach to tackling the state’s most pressing safety concerns.
“PORAC is dedicated to providing our members with the information they need to make informed decisions about the future of our state,” PORAC President Brian Marvel says. “These meet-and-greets offered a valuable opportunity to hear directly from the candidates and assess their understanding of the challenges facing law enforcement. As PORAC continues its mission to advocate for members and public safety initiatives, we remain committed to keeping everyone informed on key political developments.”
As the 2026 election draws closer, PORAC will continue to engage with candidates and provide its members with the necessary information to make informed decisions at the ballot box.
