The Stanford University Department of Public Safety is currently accepting applications for the position of Armed Security Officer (ASO). This position supports the public safety mission of Stanford DPS during special events and critical incidents by performing a variety of security and public safety functions on a casual, on-call basis. The majority of assignments occur in the Summer and Fall and on weekends. Applicants must be available to work weekends and evenings. ASO’s are expected to work no less than 30 hours and may work no more than 980 hours per year. Possession of a BSIS guard card is required for this position.
** The applicant MUST be a current sworn peace officer in the state of California, who has completed a POST approved Field Training Program. The applicant must be in good standing with his or her agency and MUST be able to provide a letter from their Chief or Sheriff indicating they are in “good standing” and off-duty (armed) work is allowed by their agency.
