The Police Officer reports to the Chief of Police in the District Police Department, to be assigned District-wide. This position is 12 months per year; 40 hours per week. Work hours and schedule will vary as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Patrol designated areas to preserve law and order; prevent and investigate crimes; enforce laws, regulations, and ordinances; ensure the safety of students, staff, the public, and District facilities. Protect District property through foot and vehicle patrols, building inspections, and monitoring of doors, windows, gates, and suspicious activity.
• Respond to complaints, disturbances, hazardous situations, injuries, accidents, fires, alarms, and other emergencies. Apprehend suspects, make arrests, issue citations, interview victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects, prepare investigative and incident reports, and testify or present evidence in court.
• Participate in and conduct criminal investigations involving crimes against persons and property, auto theft, and narcotics; gather evidence and prepare cases for prosecution. Cooperate with other law enforcement agencies in the apprehension of offenders and investigation of offenses.

The Police Officer-Academy Graduate reports to the Chief of Police in the District Police Department, to be assigned District-wide. This position is 12 months per year position; 40 hours per week. Work hours and schedule will vary as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prevent unauthorized entry; investigate situations and disturbances; apprehend suspects, make arrests, issue citations, contact law enforcement agencies, and prepare investigative, crime, follow-up, and incident reports. Respond to complaints, hazardous situations, injuries, accidents, and incidents involving risk or harm; interview victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects; testify and present evidence in court.
