Don Morrissey is a Deputy Sheriff with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. He was hired in 1998 and is currently assigned to the Transit Patrol Division working day-shift. During his career he has worked in Court Security, Patrol, Community Services, Investigations and Custody. Don also served as the Public Information Officer and in the Records Division. He was a member of the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (SWAT) for a decade, rising to the position of Tactical Commander. He has served as a Department Instructor for several subjects at the Basic Police Academy, as well as various tactical courses.
Don has been the President of the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of Santa Clara County since 2014. Shortly after his election, he was sworn in as a Director-at-Large for PORAC. In 2016, he was elected as President of the Central Coast Chapter. Additionally, in 2017 Don was elected to the Executive Committee for Region I and in 2018 was appointed to PORAC Secretary. Don has thoroughly enjoyed his time serving the nearly 70,000 PORAC members.
Don was born and raised in Santa Clara County and is pleased to be able to diligently serve his community. He possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in addition to P.O.S.T Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Certificates. In his spare time, Don enjoys coaching Lacrosse, working on classic cars and hot rods.
